Product Overview

The short-throw Epson PowerLite 525W 3LCD Projector is ideal for classroom settings, rear projection, and other installations where the projector needs to be placed very close to the screen. For example, with a 28" throw distance, it will produce a 106"-diagonal image. The 3LCD imaging device features a WXGA (1280 x 800) native resolution, and is backed up by a lamp producing a brightness of 2800 lumens in its brightest setting. In addition to WXGA, the projector can scale a range of non-native resolutions from SD (480p) up to UXGA (1600 x 1200).

For direct connection to computers with analog outputs or integration with many AV systems, there are two VGA inputs plus a single VGA output to loop-through the selected VGA input to a local monitor or other secondary display. For connection to digital and HDTV devices there is an HDMI input, and for legacy SD equipment there is a composite input and an S-video input. In addition, an Ethernet port means up to 50 devices sharing the same network as the projector can be connected, and images from up to four of those devices can be shown on-screen at once. Two USB ports allow the projector to be used standalone, projecting off of a USB storage device or for connecting it to a document camera or computer. One of the ports can also be used with an optional dongle (available separately) that enables wireless (Wi-Fi) network connectivity - including projection from a mobile app.

In addition to device connection, the Ethernet port allows the projector to be managed remotely - which helps reduce IT administration costs by enabling centralized control. A CD with management software is included. Additionally, RS-232 allows you to integrate the projector with automation systems such as Crestron. Finally, an IR remote is included for local control of the projector. When connected to a computer through USB, the remote can also serve as a presentation mouse - for example, by changing slides in PowerPoint documents.

Short-Throw Design
A 0.48:1 throw ratio means, for example, that this projector can throw a 100"-wide image when placed 48" from the screen. This is considered a short-throw projector - ideal for classrooms, rear projection, and other installations where the projector has to be placed near the screen
2800 Lumens Lamp
A single lamp provides 2800 lumens brightness in Normal mode, and is estimated to last 5000 hours (up to 10,000 hours if continually used in the low-brightness ECO mode). To determine the ideal brightness level for your application, you will need to take into account the screen width, distance from the projector to the screen (throw distance), amount of ambient light near the screen, and the reflectivity (gain) of the screen surface used
16:10 Native Aspect Ratio
This projector features a 16:10 native aspect ratio. This is considered a widescreen format, and comes very close to the 16:9 standard of HDTV. This format is ideal if you plan to show HD video, and can still be used for presentations - though, in the case of PowerPoints, some extra space may be leftover on the sides. The projector can show 4:3, too; however, black bars (pillaring) will have to be applied, or the image will have to be stretched or cropped to fit
USB Connectivity
There are two USB ports, a type-A female and a type-B female. Between them, you can project from a flash drive or other USB storage device, connect a USB document camera, use the projector remote as a presentation mouse, and project from a computer using USB. You can also use the type-A port to connect Epson's optional Wi-Fi dongle
Moderator Function and BYOD Support
Multi-PC projection and Moderator function allows up to 50 devices to connect over a network to share content to the projector - making this a true bring your own device (BYOD) solution. Up to four devices can project simultaneously
Optional Wi-Fi Dongle
In addition to the built-in Ethernet port, wireless connectivity is possible when using Epson's Wi-Fi dongle (V12H005M09, available separately). To project wirelessly, use the Epson iProjection App for iOS and Android, or a Windows computer with Wi-Fi
16W Speaker and Microphone Input
For standalone usage where no separate sound system is available, the PowerLite 525W features a built-in 16-watt speaker. A microphone input means the presenter can patch their mic directly into the projector, rather than using the mic input on a computer or document camera
Pre-Set Templates
Choose from four pre-set templates or create a custom template to project lines or grids onto whiteboards or chalkboards
Quick Corner
This digital correction feature allows you to move any of the four corners of an image independently at setup, to adjust each corner for a perfectly rectangular picture, even when the projector is not squarely aligned with the screen
Closed Captioning Support
Built-in closed captioning helps educational institutions meet ADA 508 requirements for students with hearing impairments
